TEENAH PRIVATE HOUSE
On 10 Shvat (20.01.05), there has been a very moving event.
The Binyamin community of Kochav Yaakov, located just north of Jerusalem oraganized an event of solidarity between a group of visiting Jews from Baltimore, the housing company of Tsifhat Binyamin, and the local governing body of Kochav Yaakov, last week. The visitors from Baltimore came to Kochav Yakov to explore possibilities of making aliyah there, or just as a friendly visit to show solidarity. Just days before, the community suffered a great loss when it's Chief Rabbi, Rav Tzion Weizman z"l passed away from a long illness.
In a gesture of friendship, the visitors from Baltimore, led by its rabbi, Rabbi Shmuel Silber, planted trees near the children's day care center in honor of Kochav Yaakov's Rav Tzion Weizman z"l.
Everyone who participated was truly touched and will not forgot it so quickly.

The children of the kindergarden together with the inhabitants of the Yishuv gathered together on the main road of the Yishuv to dedicate this new modest 'forest' in the memory of Rabbi Zion Weizman zt"l. Tsifhat Binyamin LTD. who is building a large housing project called "Ohr Hakochav" or in English, 'The Starlight' neighborhood, is planned for hundreds of families. It particpated in the great cost of the dedication of the forest which consisted of over 10 foot high trees.

Right now a number of families from the Kehilla of Baltimore, are planning to purchase houses in the project. G-d willing, a great Torah community will be built in Ohr Hakochav, which will consist of numerous families from the US who will arrive on aliyah directly to the new homes there.

Rabbi Shmuel Silber is head of the Orthodox Congretation of Baltimore. Known for his Zionist orientation, he came to Israel with about 15 families of his community to visit Israel. They arrived Erev Shabat Bo where they spent the Shabat in Safed. On Thursday, they came to Kochav Yaakov and the group received a thorough tour in the Yishuv. No doubt that everyone who participated in this visit was very impressed by the institutional educations in Kochav Yaakov. They met teachers, psychologist, etc. and were impressed by the professionalism and the kindness of the staff. Just for example, the Jasper family whose aliyah was profiled on a radio program called, 'The Aliyah Show' on www.IsraelNationalRadio.com arrived from Baltimore with Nefesh Benefesh on 28.12.04 with 5 children. They came off the airplane and settled directly in Kochav Yaakov. Every immigrant child receives very special attention when he arrives and after a couple of weeks, one does not notice that he is an "oleh chadash", new immigrant.

Tamar Yonah, host of 'The Aliyah Show' spoke to the group about the importance and great mitzvah of making aliyah. Other residents of Kochav Yaakov, many who immigrated just a year ago also spoke to the group with beautiful stories of their absorption into Israel and Kochav Yaakov. Their charisma convinced everyone who participated in the tour that time has arrived to pack and join our People. Kochav Yaakov is a great place, and they hope they come to live here, but the main thing they all said was just to make Aliyah, and quickly!
